Controversial blogger/videographer Josh Wolf has announced his intention to run for Mayor of San Francisco….This lifecasting angle would be great for a city in need of more transparency as well as Silicon Valley companies in the lifecasting business like (…) Ustream.

Ustream.tv Handled 75,000 Live Streams

It turns out that Steve Jobs can drive traffic. …Ustream.tv was able to handle 75,000 concurrent streams of Steve Jobs on their streaming video platform… With over 75,000 people checking out the event, that was certainly way more than could have ever joined in real life…It shows that live video web streaming is coming to the fore-front of new technology.
.. Any guesses on what will be the next big event to hit Ustream.tv?

While pre-recorded videos are far more prevalent on the Web, a company called uStream.tv is promoting a platform that enables live broadcast over the Internet.

MJ Streams Stanford Graduation Live from her webcam

June 17

Stanford University Commencement LIVEIs Ustream.TV becoming mainstream? Stanford thinks so.

In a Internet and Ustream.TV first, Stanford University student Marie Jo Mont-Reynaud attached a webcam to her graduation cap and streamed the entire Graduation Commencement LIVE on Ustream.TV. She even had a live chatroom and was able to interact with friends and family during the ceremony.Stanford University Graduation LIVE

That is cool. That is mainstream.

Marie Jo, a senior at Stanford University, decided to stream live when her grandmother who lives on the other side of the country was unable attend. Not only was her grandmother able to see her graduate live, she saw the graduation from Marie Jo’s eyes! “When I found out my grandmother couldn’t make it, I figured I would just Ustream it. She called me several times during the ceremony to tell me she loved me and could see everything,” said Marie Jo. “Hopefully I started a tradition at Stanford that will continue into the future.”

This stream was also embedded into the Stanford University Blog for other parents and relatives across the country to witness. Hundreds of friends and relatives tuned in to watch live.
